Fishing Report from 05/25/2011

Sorry for the late report people.  I have been swamped at work and my daughter had to be hospitalized.  Needless to say I have been there instead of fishing, tying or blogging.  I do have some exciting news to share with everyone but it will have to wait until tomorrow.  I am hoping to get the word tomorrow which will allow me to share the word with you all so....stay tuned.  Well Greg and I were in a neighboring county on 05/25/2011 for business.  We had a chance to fish the ponds we always fish both before work as well as during lunch.  The trip before was tough at the small pond.  There was really no bank to speak of since the water was high given all the rain we have had.  Also, there wasn't really any place for me to cast.  I had to do a modified roll cast and I was only able to fish in one spot.  Despite these limitations, I managed to land 9 before the whistle blew to start work.  All of them were gills.  They were all caught on my Monocacy Bumble Bee and all looked to be about the same size.  I only managed to snap a photo of one of them and Blogger doesn't like it so I can't share.  Trust me these guys weren't much bigger than say 7 or so inches but they were fun nonetheless.

At lunch we hit the big pond and had a blast.  We crushed them.  Well I crushed them.  Greg again tried to cheat and only used his spinning rod.  I was catching them on poppers, the Monocacy Bumble Bee, Road Kill nymphs and Clousers.  Everything worked.  It was just one of those days.  Only one had any real size to it.  I did mange to catch one largemouth.  All in all though it is always fun to catch fish on the fly rod.  It is even better when you have to beat them off with a stick because they love everything you are throwing at them!
